Victory! Bill Allowing Police to Kill water Protectors Fails in Senate
In a big and underreported victory for water protectors and other protesters, the U.S. Senate did not pass its version of H.R. 1374, a law that would have given federal funding to states to protect so-called “critical infrastructure” — like pipelines — including use of lethal force against dissenters. Thank you to the more than 30,000 of you who wrote to your senators demanding they prioritize protecting people and planet over pipelines. It's absolutely critical to the health of our democracy to defend dissent.
