On Dec. 29, 1890, the 7th Cavalry of the United States massacred nearly 300 peaceful Lakota women, men, and children at Cankpe' Opi Wakpa, or Wounded Knee Creek. The U.S. government subsequently awarded the Medal of Honor to soldiers for participating in this heinous slaughter of innocent families. It's time to respect the slain and remove the stain.
